HandmadeQT: Pikachu Beanie

I needed to make my teenage cousin a present for his 21st birthday and I know he'll get a kick out of Pikachu from pokemon characters.

Pattern:

-Row 1: Magic circle (sc 6 )
-Row 2:  2sc in each st (12)
-Row 3: 1 sc, 2 sc in the next, all around sl st in first stitch.
-Row 4-8: increase in each row between stitches.
-Row 9-12 (longer if needed): sc all around, sl st in first stitch.

Earflaps: make 2. You'll need several stitch markers to hold accurate stitching.
Turn beanie Right side, fold in half. Place a stitch marker in corners. From the stitch count 10 stitches, place marker in 8th stitch on each side of the corner stitch marker. Take your yarn and loop through 10th stitch. Like your starting around.
Row 1: From 10th stitch marker, continue to sc to other side. You can take corner stitch out. Chain 1 turn.
Row  2 & 3:  sc across chain 1, turn.
Row 4 & 5: sc2tog in first 2 stitches, sc2tog in the last 2 stitches.
Row 6&7: continue to sc2tog and sl st and fasten off.

Row8: color change with blk yarn, sc around ear flaps all around, fasten off.

Picachu ears: (make 2)
Chain 7, sc across, chain one turn, continue to do it til you slip sl at end.

Sew ears to top.
