Fantabulous Fridays- Teensy Weensy Rosettes

Hi Everyone! It's Friday, I'm working on the series I'm making called Fantabulous Fridays, this week's episode (#2) is on making Prima's look-a-likes but a teensy weensy verison of their rosettes.

It was really fun to make this flowers, entertaining and oh so cute, since they're tiny!

My faux prima- prima flowers

So I was making prima flowers using my cricut cart, Plantin Schoolbook. I cut these flowers at 1in, did auto fill and they can out to 110 for a sheet 12x12 white cardstock. So easy to make, to pinch those pennies, during these times.

5 flowers petals 1in. (Plantin Schoolbook Cart)

Glimmer Mist- Mustard Seed

1 pen

Art Glitter glue

Half pearl

1. You can color them now or wait until after your choice.

2. Cup all flowers with bottom of pen.

3. Pinch and stack them until you get to 5 petal up.

4. Pinch and squish flower until forming a bed, glue all of them

5. Decorate as you want, add an embelishment.

Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything lately, but I've been very tired at 6 months pregnant with a boy, he's kicking more and more!

Supplies

3-5 Scallop Flowers 3in (5in. is Best)

Glimmer Mist/ Dye Ink

Prima Flower

Jewels

Glue

Sugar Coating Glitter

Ok Here are the steps: ( for pics look at blog online)

1. Crumble all scallops. Then, Unfold.

2. Spray your scallops with ink, dyes, glimmer mist (for homemade recipe & donna's recipes, see next post) Make sure they're not soaked, just enough to cover in color.

3. Stack up the Scallops evenly together, in the order you want.

4. Fold in half and then in another half. Even you unfold you should have an X in center.

5. Now with you non-dominant hand make a circle using your thumb and pointer finger. With you your dominant hand pick up scallops at X and push through circle.

6. Don't worry if it doesn't look like a flower, we're not at that step. Now twist the bottom proportion. Snip the bottom top.

7. Punch out a scallop or circle small than the flower, with glue make a flat circle and paste the bottom tip of the flower and push down and lay flat. ART Glitter Glue Works excellent at this step.

8. Now make a diamond shape with your fingers with both hands (thumbs and pointers) and bunch up the scallops towards the middle til you make a center bulb.

9. Pull up each layer, carefully. this with achieve the fluffing the flower.

10. Dye the Prima Flower and Glue with Arts Glitter and add Jewel.

Donna Salazar's Class: Signature Flowers & Cards

Hi Everyone!

I was so excited to attend Donna's Class on Saturday morning 11-1pm at my local scrapbook store, Scrapbook Your Life. I woke up bright and early, had some morning tea, curled my hair, and makeup on, left to drop off Isaac at work.

When I arrived, I was so excited to get started. I made some homemade glimmer mist in little spritzers. I made them using Tim Holtz Distress reinkers. My colors I picked out were: Tattered Rose, Weathered Wood, Shabby Shutters, Plum Purple, and Vintage Photo. I added shimmer power to make the colors pop!

Next, as Donna set up her class, she had lots of cool goodies in a crate along with lots of shimmer dye inks. I saw her exclusive line with Pinecone Press and Got her kit. It was $24 of diecuts, 12x12 papers, Cardboard Diecuts, Loads of Lace and Ribbon, Gems, Glitter, and lots of beautiful flowers. I was so excited!

I absolutely loved the class, I didn't have enough time to do all six cards, so I took some of my supplies home to continue them there. I loved Donna's homemade glimmer mists and her shimmer mists, I forget the name. But there's were lots of colors to choose from and lots of colors.

I learned how to do her signature flowers using tissue scallops, vintage dictionaries, and paper scallops. I used tulle dyed with green paint, cardboard, diecuts, lace and ribbon.

I made a card for her and signed her guestbook which was a must!

Tim Holtz Flourish Mask

I wanted to do something creative today, like every other day I suppose. I walked through the isles at work and found the new stuff we had gotten last month from Tim Holtz. I love Tim Holtz Distress, I recently ran out of Tea Dye, so I have to get a re-inker soon! Well, I found this mask it's a flourish mask. There's some other designs, barbed wire, alphabets, shapes, elements, and so on. So when I got home, I got right to it. I also picked up an Alcohol Ink Applicator (felt not foam kind) and decided to do something to with this scrap piece, what I don't know. I also purchase a non-stick craft sheet, if you don't have one, I suggest you run off and get one! This craft sheet is AWESOME! Capital A! Nothing sticks, paints, melts to this bad boy. Will do a review soon.

Post-it Notes Books

I love taking notes, I'm very mediculous at that, but I think I like seeing my writing. So I decided to make small gifts of small post it notes. I've never made these before, so I was nervous, I had to trim here a couple of times, but I'm pleased with the results.

I got Pentel Pens for $1 at Staples during their sales. The post-it notes came in a pack of 18 pads, I split them in half, to save a little, but the 18 pads of Staples brand came out to $4. Simple yellow ones, no fancy colors, they were too bright.

To Emboss an Image

1. Make sure your ink is a pigment, watermark, or emboss ink.
2. Before you stamp, take an emboss buddy and use it rub your image. The buddy is a cornstarch wrapped in cheesecloth or wrapped in bandage gauze. It makes sure the emboss powder sticks to your image and not anywhere.
3. Emboss powder is permanent, one coated on the image or anywhere else and melted, it's there for good, best to use a buddy. Stamp your image and coat with emboss powder generously, put excess back in container.
4. For Emboss powder finishes, see my blog. Or another post in tips and techiniques.
5. Heat Tool Time, in small circles, hold the heat tool 5-8 inches away from your image. Don't stay in a place to long or it will warp or burn ink. Small circle when covering image. Only heat until you see emboss ink melt. Turn off.
6. WhaLA! Emboss Image, for different color powders, use an emboss pen and same technique as above.

How to chalk an Image

Hey Everyone!
I made this really cool chalk baby. The stamp is from WhipperSnapper Stamps, I purchased at scrapbook expo in San Diego,CA from http://www.stampinfools.com/. The G studio chalk ink I purchased at Joann's Craft store for $1!!! Yes ladies, what deal! They're the same ones a little less in pigment than my inkadoos chalk. But they work great, they don't leave a mess and they come with 2 applications. Space saving-too!

How to make a paper piercer

Supplies: 1 piece of foamie sheet in your fav color, 1 Doll Head Needle, 1-2 pieces of thin ribbon. Optional: Quarter Quilt patch to cover if you like.
1.You take your foamie sheet and make equal side cuts down the middle (horizontal) and (vertical) lines.
2. Cut down lines, best to do it in pencil, so you can't see the lines afterwards. I've tried a paper trimmer and it didn't really cut thru the whole foamie.
3. Take the Foamie rectangles, squares (whatever shape you make) and stack them using Aleene's Craft Glue. Clean the edges of glue. Optional: Cover foamie with quilt quarter, to look very nice.
4. Take you ribbon and thread thru your doll head needle.
5. That's it! You can now make a dolie or pierce for brads on your foamie, for less than $2.
